Emily Stratford, Music Teacher

Hi, I’m Emily Stratford. I am the Music teacher here at College Park School. I have been working with Westminster Special Schools for the last 10 years! 

I am originally from Australia and I gained my Bachelor of Music from the Australian Institute of Music and worked as a vocal tutor for almost 10 years before relocating to London with my band Sunday Waits. During my time in London I began working at College Park School and began specialising in SEND before gaining my Diploma of Education Excelsia College Sydney. Over the years through CPD offered at College Park I have acquired vast experience in TEACCH, SCERTS and Makaton to support in my practice in the classroom. I have also achieved a Foundation in Music Therapy at Roehampton University.

I have always incorporated my love of song writing in my lessons to support the pupil’s needs. I have written greetings and transitions songs for our students that are used across the key stages within College Park. I also enjoy writing and directing the music for the West London Inclusive Arts Festival held every year at the Lyric Theatre. I find music encourages pupil with their communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.

I enjoy working with all of the staff and pupils at College Park School and feel very privileged to get to sing and make music with the pupil’s day in and day out.
